ÅTGÄRDSPLAN FÖR AVLOPPSLEDNINGSNÄTET / Planning for Sewer Survival
A master plan for sewerage in Gothenburg has been developed. The Water and Sewage Works serves 30,000 inhabitants in a 140 km2 area. The sewers have a total length of 2,233 km. The first Gothenburg master plan for sewerage was adopted in 1866. Combined sewers were laid until 1957. Therafter separate storm sewers have been laid in all new suburban areas and in clearance areas. This has brought considerable areas with non-active separated sewers. An important objective for the new master plan was to avoid harmfull effects on the receiving waters. A complete rebuilding of the combined system into a separated system was calculated to cost 4,500 MSEK. An investigation of the need of renewal based on compilation of reported disturbances in operation, CCTV-inspections, flow control and detailed field investigations has been performed. The capacity of the existing network was analysed by computer modelling. “Complete abstract not presented.”
