Barriärtänkande vid extrema förhållanden / Multiple barriers under extreme situations
The demand for water increases with population and economic growth. Water that in many cases not is available. Reclaimed water for irrigation has been used for a long time, but in urban areas with water scarcity, advanced treated wastewater has now become an alternative for production of potable water. Extreme situations demand ingenious solutions, solutions that in the future may viewed as obvious but which are controversial
today. Planned, direct or indirect, reuse of treated wastewater for production of potable water is a reality in many countries today. All these facilities, wherever in the world and irrespective of available resources, have designed their processes according to multiple barrier systems. There is no acceptance of any negative effect on health at any time, the process design must fulfil the high quality demands from the users.
