BELASTNINGSMODELLER FÖR NÄRSALTER FÖR BEDÖMNING AV FISKODLINGARS MILJÖPÅVERKAN I MARIN MILJÖ / Nutrient Loading Models for the Assessment of Environmental Effects of Marine Fish Farms
The aim of this paper is to present and discuss some results from the project ”The Coast As a Natural Resource”. The overall aim has been to attempt to develop new scientific criteria, methods and models for the planning of coastal waters. The sensitivity of different coastal areas to nutrient loading (nitrogen and phosphorus) from fish-farms has been studied in particular. For this purpose a number of loading models have been developed where the environmental effect of nutrient discharges in general and from fish-farms in particular can be related to the dose (=load) of nutrients together with the sensitivity of the area. Comprehensive field work was done during 1986-1988 in 23 Swedish and Finnish coastal areas with at least one fish-farm in each sub-area. All data collected in the sampling programme have been compiled in a database together with data on the morphometry, the water turnover and the bottom dynamic conditions of the coastal areas. The data has been processed using so-called ecometric analysis. “Complete abstract not presented.”
