CHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF SURFACE WATERS IN LATVIA – ANALYSIS OF INFLUENCING FACTORS
Chemical composition of surface waters (lakes and rivers) of Latvia has been studied. The relationship between water composition, formation factors and human impact has been compared. Aquatic chemistry has been found to be controlled both by land-use pattern, human impact and hydrological factors, but in varying: extent for different water bodies. The possible sources of the major water ingredients, and their relative contributions to composition or waters were identified.
