Dagvattenkvaliteten i anslutning till hamnområdet i Västerås / Stormwater quality in the habour area of västerås
Storm water can contain pollutants that cause harmful health- and environmental disturbances. In a harbour area, the quality of storm water can be difficult to allocate from the harbours activity in comparison to other external activities, from neighbouring enterprises etc. This is because of the location of the harbour area, which usually is placed close to the recipient. In this study a freshwater harbour and a specific part of its catchment area is examined, which includes a storm water system. To define the storm water quality, it is usual to take water samples. But in this study the samples is taken in torrent of the water. The purpose with this study is trying to identify sources of pollutant in the present storm water system. To day all costs of the pollution is paid by the harbour company, regardless of the polluter pays principles, which says that every polluter have to pay for their pollutions. Most difficult in assessing storm water is that there are no indexes to storm water, to compare the water quality with, as there is in lake and stream water.
