ENDURANCE TEST OF ALUMINOUS CEMENT PRODUCED FROM WATER TREATMENT SLUDGE
The environmental problem with water treatment sludge is small, but utilisation of the sludge for production of aluminous cement may reduce the problems, since any environmental hazardous contaminants is bound as mineral to the building material and mining of raw material for cement production is reduced. Compression strength were measured after different hydration lime on samples produced by cement burnr at varying temperatures from 6 different mixtures of sludge with additions of slaked lime, iron containing waste, chalk and/or aluminium hydroxide. Three sludges was used; one thickened, one dehydrated and one after being freezed, defrosted and dried. The tests shows that aluminous cement produced from water treaunent plant sludge is characterised by high durability and absence of metastable hydrarion products which otherwise will reduce the quality.
