EXPERIMENTELL UNDERSÖKNING AV NITRIFIKATIONSPROCESSEN MED ANVÄNDNING AV MULTIVARIAT METODIK / Experimental Investigation of Nitrification Process by Use of Multivariate Method
Nitrification of reject water with SBR technics has been studied at Bromma sewage treatment plant in Stockholm. At the beginning of 1993 an investigation of the nitrification by use of multivariate method was carried out. Experiments showed that the nitrification rate is very strong depending on the oxygen content in water. Moreover the experiment proved that the accumulation of nitrite nitrogen during nitrification takes place. This is primary caused by the initial concentrations of ammonia nitrogen and secondly by oxygen. The increase of oxygen concentrations causes the decrease of nitrite nitrogen concentrations. High oxygen concentrations have a great importance mostly at high initial ammonia nitrogen concentrations. Generally it can be stated that high oxygen concentrations give quick nitrification reactions what results in high efficiency of SBR plant. “Complete abstract not presented.”
