Flödesdesign vid avloppsreningsverk / Flow design at wastewater treatment plants
This article deals with flow design of wastewater treatment plants in Sweden. The traditional sewer system and the traditional approach of flow design of wastewater treatment plants are discussed. Based on the changes that the wastewater systems and the regulations surrounding them have undergone in Sweden over the past 40 years a new method for flow design is suggested. The method is based on a duration graph over the incoming flow, which in most cases can be calculated from already existing data. Then the concentrations of the relevant pollutants are determined, or estimated, at different flow rates, and finally the consequence of managing the flow in a certain way is calculated.
