KOMBINERAD BIOLOGISK FOSFOR- OCH KVÄVEAVSKILJNING STUDIUM AV DYNAMIKEN I DE OLUFTADE REAKTORERNA / Combined Biological Phosphorus and Nitrogen Removal – Study of the Dynamics in the Unaerated Reactors
To be able to use the available volumes as effectively as possible in a process for combined biological phosphorus and nitrogen removal, knowledge about the variations during the day and the week is needed. This work is a comparison between the behaviour in the unaerated reactors during a typical wednesday (high COD/TKN ratio) and a typical sunday (low COD/ TKN ratio). Samples were taken out from a pilot scale UCT-process every 30:th minute during 24 hours on April 1 and April 5, 1992. The results show that the variation during the week is of great importance. To optimize the nitrogen removal and still maintain the phosphorus removal (i.e. avoid nitrate in the anaerobic reactor), the nitrate recirkulation should be higher on weekdays than during weekends. The amount of nitrate that can be allowed to enter the anaerobic reactor is probably dependent of the amount of VFA’s in the influent. “Complete abstract not presented.”
