KONSEKVENSER AV HAVSYTANS HÖJNING FÖR SKÅNES KUSTOMRÅDEN / Effects of Sea Level Rise on Scanian Coast Reaches
Today there is a serious concern about the consequences of a global climate change. One possible effect of this change is a considerable rise of the sea level. According to several prognoses it may be expected that the sea level rise by the year 2100 may lie between 0.9 and 1.7 m with a preferred value close to 1.1 m. However, already by the year 2000 the sea level rise may be noticeable. The rise may affect coastal processes, for instance aggravate erosion and saltwater intrusion. In this paper the authors discuss some consequences, especially those related to coastal erosion. Some calculations show what effects may be encountered at the coasts of Scania. Addressing planners and decision makers the paper concludes, by making some suggestions, how to prepare for managing coastal damages.
