KRETSLOPPET OCH KARAKTERISERING AV AVLOPPSVATTENS MILJÖFARLIGHET / The Recycling and Characterization of Waste Water
Characterization is a study of the effect of waste water or a chemical on the environment. The study is carried out by biological and chemical analytical methods. Characterization of waste water plays an important role in protecting the environment and working towards a society of recycling. In this paper different characterization models for waste water are described, namely ”KIU” and ”STORK”. KIU-characterization of industrial waste, is a general model that is used to investigate the effect of waste water on the environment. STORK is a project concerning characterizations of the waste water discharges from chemical industries in Sweden. The ”STORK-project” program is based on KIU. We consider these models very useful in environmental protection. It is therefore important that these methods will be accepted and instigated by all affected parties.
