MILJÖKONSEKVENSER VID ANVÄNDANDE AV DRÄNERANDE VÄGBELÄGGNING – EN LITTERATURSTUDIE / Environmental Influence from Using Porous Top Pavement – a Literature Study
Open black top pavement has advantages over usual black top in view of economics, accidental statistic and environmental factors. Noticed about the environmental advantages are lower load on waste water filtration plants, lowered risk for spillway overflow, less pollution to recipients, lowered noice levels for traffic and sustained ground water balance. The risk for clugging of the open black top’s pores constitutes the major drawback, since the pavement then loses its draining capacity. Adequate research to investigate the possible negative environmental consequences due to infiltration of pollutants has not yet been carried out. Therefore it is too early to make far-reaching conclusions. It can be concluded that open black pavement probably has good prospects for the future. Especially for less trafficated areas. Introduction of open top in larger scale must be well prepared. Possible environmental consquences must be documented, especially the risk of ground water poisoning. “Complete abstract not presented.”
