PROVTAGNINGSMETODIK VID BESTÄMNING AV JÄRNKONCENTRATION I DRICKSVATTEN / Sampling Methods for Determination of Iron Concentration in Drinking Water
High concentrations of iron in drinking water, redwater, is a problem in some parts of Gothenburg. Iron concentration is determined in redwater areas by analysis of samples taken out of hydrants. Unfortunately it is very difficult to compare results from different samples and to find tendencies as different methods are used. During the investigation many samples have been taken out of five hydrants in Bö, a district in eastern Gothenburg. Different sampling flows and volumes of flushing water were used. A comparison with results from samples taken in hydrants and in houses indicates that an appropriate sampling flow should resemble the flow from a water tap. The flushing volume should exceed 200 liters to obtain a sufficient renewal of the water in the service pipe of the hydrant. “Complete abstract not presented.”
