STRATEGI FÖR FRAMTIDA BEHANDLING AV SPILLVATTEN FRÅN GETINGE I HALMSTADS KOMMUN / Strategy for future treatment of sewage water from the village Getinge in the community of Halmstad, Sweden
The strategic choice between different future solutions of sewage treatment in the area and village of Getinge has been evaluated from economical and environmental viewpoints. The study could identify three alternative solutions for the treatment of the sewage, which were compared from operational, economical and environmental
points of view. The first alternative, A, described the present situation and implied the existing treatment plant of Getinge being further used as present. Alternative B included certain modifications of plant operation, measures at/of the sewer (grid system, discharge pipes), and conversion to gravimetrical sludge concentration system, a “greener” sludge treatment. Alternative C analysed costs for a transfer sewer and its environmental consequences.
The investigation came to the conclusion that there were no economical profits of transfering Getinge sewage to the larger WWTP of Halmstad. Analysing the environmental impact on the recipients showed also advantages for keeping the smaller plant of Getinge. The investigation recommended the technical department of
Halmstads municipality to go for the alternative B, since this solution would include both lower operation costs and environmental benefits.
