Utvärdering av dagvattensystemets hållbarhet i Augustenborg, Malmö / Evaluation of a sustainable urban drainage system in Augustenborg, Malmö
Sustainable management of stormwater in urban environments can result in economic gains for the society. However, there are only a few studies made on the evaluation of social and environmental impacts of a sustainable urban drainage system. In the present work, a subjective method has been developed for evaluating the sustainability of elements from a sustainable urban drainage system. The evaluation is done by scaling 0–10 for the elements regarding technical, environmental, economical and social aspects. Finally, all aspects were weighted equally for a sustainability index. The elements from the sustainable urban drainage system received the following sustainability index values: wet stormwater ponds 6.9, infiltration surfaces 5.8, open stormwater channels 5.1 and green roofs 5.0. Their alternatives with more traditional solutions all had sustainability index values below 4.0. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the establishment of elements from an open stormwater system is a more sustainable solution than today’s more common solutions, conventional pipe system.
