VATTENVÅRD I TUNISIEN – ERFARENHETER FRÅN ETT DECENNIUMS UPPBYGGNAD AV AVLOPPSRENING / Water Environment Planning in Tunisia – Experiences from a Decade of Municipal Wastewater Treatment
Tunisia has during the last ten years invested in an ambitious programme for waste water treatment throughout the country. The startpoint of this programme has to some extent been the situation in the tourist centres along the Mediterranean coastline during the late sixties. The overall water conservation aspect has had a very important impact on the programme. This paper describes the conditions for the planning of waste water treatment plants as seen through the eyes of consulting engineers. In a humble way is presented not only the technical conditions for the planning, but also the cultural, ethnical, sociological, climatological, physical and, in a broad way, economical conditions, which all have an impact on the planning and on the outcome of the planning. The way from »classical» waste water treatment systems, such as activated sludge and sludge digestion, extended aeration and aerated lagoons is described. “Complete abstract not presented.”
